Donanma Model was shaped by a lifelong connection to the sea and to Turkish naval heritage. Founder Yusuf Akmeşe served 24 years as a naval non-commissioned officer before turning his passion for ship modelling into a profession.

His work has included models of Turkish naval vessels, submarines, historical ships and maritime objects. He has also taught model shipmaking to hundreds of students, helping pass the craft to a new generation.

The workshop is based in Gölcük, Kocaeli — a place whose identity has long been connected with the Turkish Navy.
